Lovely sunny early spring day with very little wind, and this showed with 34 species recorded today, the higest count of March.
Highlights were the usual displaying Great Crested Grebes, Tufted Duck numbers were down to 20 and Pochard were 17.
Most of the birds where seen in the wood/pools area, a first for me at Westport was a male Pheasant, also saw a female Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Willow Tit, the usual parties of Lon-tailed Tits, 3 Redwing and 1 Goldcrest.
In the morning one of the regular watchers Nick Smith had a female Mandarin with the Tufted Ducks on the main lake.
