Ok, so I've not been about much yet again, sodding off down to Devon to see House Finch and Gull-billed Tern, and what happens, someone and no one knows who, goes and reports a Black-necked Grebe on the main lake at Westport, if correct this is a first for the year and one a few people would like to see, it caused a mini twitch in Stoke with several people going down to look for it but too no avail, so if your the person who found/saw it, could you please e mail me or put a comment on here, thanks.
Other news from today comes from Nick Smith, who does his best on a Saturday to walk me all over the country so I'm too tired to go Westport on a Sunday, and as usual he succeeded, a Kingfisher on the main lake is the second record this week, immature Great Crested Grebe on the main lake possibly comes from the breeding pair on Hanley Park, no sign of the 3 Pochard that have been with us for nearly a week, and 'Sammy' Shoveler seems to be on his own again as the female Shoveler looks to have moved on, 37 Tufted Duck is another slight increase over the week.
