29 August 2010

I wasn't able to get down to Westport this morning due to work commitments and I will not be down on Bank Holiday Monday as Nick and myself will fingers crossed be looking at the Kentish Plover at Eyebrook Res in Leicestershire!

Nick managed a visit this morning although the weather conditions wasn't very good with rain and a strong wind, the youngest Great Crested Grebe from the ongoing model boating lake saga was missing which is no surprise as the older youngsters continued to chase the parents for all the food, 2 Swifts are still present but the numbers continue to drop slowly as the week has progressed, 160+ House Martins, 60+ Swallows and 4 Sand Martins were on and around the top end of the main lake, on the main lake 5 Teal and 3 Shoveler with the Tufted Ducks and 3 Cormorants flew over heading south, it was a poor day for Warblers with the weather but 14 Chiffchaffs and a single Willow Warbler were noted.
