Called back down Westport tonight in the hope of seeing or hearing a Owl or two after hearing 2 Tawny Owls nearby in the early hours of this morning, I got down for the last few hours of light and stayed until it was completely dark, but sadly no joy, covered the main lake, nature reserve, gas works, sewage works and finished along the 'Avenue' and on Price's field.
As Nick had said yesterday, sadly the Great Crested Grebes on the model boating lake have lost there latest juvenile, the 2 older ones continued to pester them for food, on the main lake at least 200+ Black-headed Gulls with a few Lesser Black-backed Gulls and a single Herring Gull, 2 Pochards were among the Tufted Duck flock, as it got close to dusk I headed for the gas works and sewage works hoping for a Barn Owl but saw nothing, I then went down to the 'Avenue' by which time it was completely dark but again no sign or sound in the way of an Owl.
Oh well there's always tomorrow, hey Nick!
