29 March 2010

A very wet morning down at Westport this morning, arrived at 06.10 til 08.30, species numbers were down to just 33 species seen, prob because of the constant rain, it was also rather cool with a slight breeze. Highlights of the morning where Great Crested Grebe numbers were upto 12, the highest count of the month, at the bottom of the main lake a single Little Grebe was hiding under the boards, the male Shoveler continues its presence as well as the pair of Goldeneye, Teal are upto 3 (2 male & 1 female) and Tufted Ducks 22, again on the grass edge of the main lake a Little Ringed Plover.
In the wood/pools area highlights inc Jay x1, between 3/4 Chiffchaffs & the usual Tit flocks.
