01 June 2010

First of a new month and the start of what is usually a quiet period for the next few months, it started out cloudy with a slight southerly breeze it then started to rain lightly.

The 2x Greylag Geese have returned and are with the large Canada Geese flock on the playing field, on the model boating lake the pair of Great Crested Grebes at last have a chick, could'nt see anymore but hopefully will have several by the end of the day. 2x Mute Swans were also on the boating lake and a Little Ringed Plover on the grass bank, on the main lake, 11x Mute Swans, 5x Great Crested Grebe, 2x Tufted Duck and good number at least 60+ Swifts with a few House Martins and Swallows. 2x Oystercatchers came in and flew aroung for a few minutes before flying off north, and 2x Black-headed Gulls flew through heading south. The male Reed Bunting continues to sing from the trees by Ted Heath rock, and the Canada creche of 30x young was along the canal side.
