Wednesday 28th April

Big news today concerns an OSPREY seen hovering over the main lake at 17-06hrs. The observer managed to take a photo of it and showed Phil Jones it when he met up with him later. If you read this blog, can you send your photo in please! This is the first Westport Osprey since Sept 2007.

This morning sightings are collected from four regulars who were down this morning - two Little Ringed Plovers, a Common Sandpiper, Sammy the Shoveler, warblers seen were 12 Blackcaps, three Reed Warblers, two Sedge Warblers, three Whitethroats, a Garden Warbler and a single Willow Warbler. Chris had a pair of Reed Buntings plus the male still singing at the top. Also seen were three pairs of Collared Dove, five Swift, a few Sand Martins and Swallows, three Bullfinches, pair of Grey Wagtails, Great S Woodpecker, 16 Tufted Duck, seventeen Mute Swans, a Willow Tit and a Heron.

Chick News - First Canada Geese goslings seen this morning with 6 in the back, but already down to 5 by the evening. There are another on the Model Boat Lake. The Domestic Geese still had 4 chicks this morning.

Chris this evening had a flock of 12 adult Black-headed Gulls over, a steady stream of Lesser BB's over to the north, three Stock Doves, 20+ Swift and two Grey Wagtails still.
